Commercial Systems - ESCO's EMAS & EMASMAX™

Although ESCO has been developing and providing arresting systems for military applications for over 50 years, it wasn't until the early 1990's that the FAA approached ESCO to help develop a soft-ground arresting system for commercial airports.

Working under a Cooperative Research Development Agreement (CRDA) with the FAA, we developed a new type of predictable and reliable, soft-ground arresting system. ESCO's EMAS (Engineered Material Arresting System) and EMASMAX™ have the distinction of being the first and, currently only, engineered aircraft arresting system certified for airport runway safety areas and satisfying Part 139 requirements.

Armed with a proven success in arresting aircraft, we have implemented this unique technology to also address the needs of the perimeter security market. The nation's strong focus, and need, for protection of high-value public and private buildings is balanced in our solutions by the need to also be inconspicuous and aesthetically pleasing.
