Passive Perimeter Products & Technologies

In the early 1990s, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) worked with ESCO through a Cooperative Research Development Agreement (CRDA) to develop a new type of predictable and reliable soft-ground arresting system to provide aircraft overrun protection at commercial airports. The system developed by ESCO through this process is known as EMAS (Engineered Material Arresting System).

In response to new requirements for infrastructure and security protection solutions, ESCO harnessed this expertise to develop a secondary and equally effective use for the EMAS technology by focusing the product's unique arresting properties as a primary perimeter defense for critical installations.

With these innovations, the company has truly redefined the market and solidified its place as the chosen provider of tested, proven and non-lethal security applications aimed at solving a broad spectrum of security challenges and deployments.
